Dr. Jones is a native of Florida and received his B.S. from the University of Florida in 1968. Dr. Jones earned his M.S. and Ph. D. degrees from the University of Kentucky in 1972 and 1977, respectively. Dr. Jones joined the Department of Poultry Science at North Carolina State University as an Assistant Professor/Poultry Specialist in 1977 and was promoted to the rank of Professor in 1989. Dr. Jones' research is focused on the areas of pre-harvest food safety, efficient production of high quality animal and poultry feed, prevention of mold growth and mycotoxin contamination in poultry feeds and the efficient processing, and cooling of commercial eggs. Dr. Jones was awarded the Pfizer Extension Award by the Poultry Science Association in 1996. Dr. Jones joined the Center of Excellence in Poultry Science as Extension Section Leader in July of 1997.
